We had the pleasure of visiting Michelle at the Cedar & Moss studio, located just outside Portland surrounded by tall, lush cedar trees. Michelle, once an art history student, has had a particular fondness for Modernist design. This has informed her collection of modern and midcentury lighting that makes up the Cedar & Moss collection. After working on the industry for a number of years, she decided to begin designing her own fixtures for her beautiful Eicher-stlye ranch home. The pieces were originally made simply to compliment her home, but has grown into the collection that is available online and can be seen in home and hotels around the nation.
Michelle opened up her space to us, and gave us a look at the sparingly beautiful materials she uses for her collection, ranging from brushed and powdered solid brass and crystal clear glass bowls. Her pieces, perfectly minimal resonate as works of arts in and of themselves.
