Vintage XL Furoshiki Indigo Sashiko Stitched, Ishiyama

$ 395.00

From the early 1900s, this furoshiki wrapping cloth was made to be entirely utilitarian. Unlike more recent furoshiki, this one is a bit heavier, dyed with indigo to strengthen the fabric and keep bugs away. Fabric was made in smaller widths, and hand-sewn together. The edges of the blanket are reinforced with sashiko stitching to strengthen the fabric.

Carefully selected and imported from Japan, this product is truly one of a kind. This extra-large furoshiki was thought to be used to wrap futon bedding during transportation. From a sheet to go over your bed, an on-the-go table cloth or a beautiful piece to be displayed in your home. The uses of Furoshiki are limited only to the owner's imagination.

We have not added or done any repairs to this piece. Due to the age of the fabric, it may tear easily and have holes or stains.
