Split Pillow, Indigo, Sashiko Jyuji
Used for both utility and for ornamentation, Sashiko, a Japanese hand-stitched embroidery technique, was often used to reinforce fabric. Simple sashiko stitching was pivotal for boro patching and mending clothes but evolved into intricate embroidery. Sashiko’s translation, “little stabs,” is a reflection on its technique, creating these designs one stitch and thread at a time.
The inserts for our pillows are 100% cotton, sourced from the Southern United States and processed and sewn here in Portland.
