Boro Pillow, Indigo Kiku, Plaid Kasuri
Boro is a utilitarian material. Born from a period when Japan closed its ports to foreign goods, fabrics like cotton became extremely precious and rare. These materials were saved and repurposed from each generation to the next.
Our patchwork pillows are our take on Boro. Using remnant vintage fabrics and leftovers from previous productions, we patch them together in our studio into these thoughtful patchwork pillowcases.
Kasuri , a traditional Japanese fabric, derived from the word “kasureru” meaning “blurred” is created using individually dyed threads that are skillfully woven into the patterns you see here.
The inserts for our pillows are 100% cotton, sourced from the Southern United States and processed and sewn here in Portland.
