Kiriko X 203 Butik Small Notebook, Asanoha
We are excited to introduce our new collaboration with 203 Butik Stationery! 203 Butik is based in Norwalk, Connecticut and is run by Shamese Shular who specializes in Japanese stab binding and stationery. For this collaboration, we provided Shamese with some of our favorite Japanese patterned fabrics. In return, she created these beautiful hand-made notebooks utilizing the art of Japanese stab binding. 203 Butik uses quality papers in their products, making these notebooks perfect to draw, paint or write in!

This notebook features an Asanoha pattern. Asanoha depicts a geometric design of hemp leaves. Hemp has long been an important plant in Japan, being the primary clothing fiber along with silk, until the 17th century when cotton was introduced to Japan. It represents growth and good health. Since hemp grows quickly, it was customary to use Asanoha for children's clothes, in hopes that the child would also grow fast and strong.
