Satsuma-Yaki Tea Cups, Black with White Drip, Set of 5
Satsuma-yaki is originally from Satsuma Province in southern Kyushu. There are three different types of Satsuma wares: white, black and porcelain. Porcelain Satsuma ware is no longer being produced, however, shiro (white) and kuro (black) continue to be made today. Shiromon uses transparent glaze and decoration on yellow porcelain to treat cracks on the surface. Kuromon uses a combination of potter's clay with high iron content and colored glaze.
These teacups make a great addition to your collection of Japanese pottery.
