This vintage Zokin is entirely hand-stitched, made of layers of various types of fabric. Sashiko hand stitching runs over the mat in lines, reinforcing it. Zokin, or dust rags, were made at home from worn out clothes or fabric, as a very practical way or recycling.
Mottainai means that everything has a use, and nothing should be wasted. This easily shows off that philosophy.
Carefully selected and imported from Japan, this product is truly one of a kind. We have not added or done any repairs to this piece. Due to the age of the fabric, it may tear easily and have holes or stains.
