"Kogin" is an elaborate folk art; a style of Sashiko embroidery of white thread of indigo-dyed cotton, meant for workers and farmers. This book contains photographs of a beautiful collection of antique Kogin-Sashiko work clothes, hand-stitched with enormous detail. It has Japanese descriptions of each piece, and tells the story behind old fabrics used in Japan before cotton, as well as the dyes used, and how fabrics were woven.
