This lightweight cotton tee is part of our special collaboration with Erika Harada of Kimagureya, a local Japanese American artist known for her work in katazome—a traditional resist-dyeing technique. Erika’s art draws inspiration from the Pacific Northwest and her Japanese heritage, blending nature and culture in beautifully detailed designs.
This particular illustration features the Moon Bear, or Tsukinowaguma, named for the crescent-shaped patch of white fur on its chest. Native to Japan, the Moon Bear is admired for its resilience and gentle strength—walking flat-footed like humans and often sitting upright. Once treasured for its symbolism and medicinal uses, it now stands as a reminder of endurance and balance with nature.
This piece features a charming illustration by freelance artist Erika of Kimagureya, known for her playful designs and expertise in traditional dyeing methods like katazome.
