Printed in the USA. For this limited run of our Ainu crewneck, we designed these crewnecks in house referencing traditional Ainu elements. Screen printed with water based inks on the front and the back, these crewnecks are made to last.
We are honored to share the beauty and important history of the Ainu — indigenous people of Japan, who mainly reside in Hokkaido (the Northern island of Japan), some parts of the Kuril Islands, and Sakhalin. In Ainu culture, these intricate designs (also known as auishi) are believed to ward off evil spirits. They served as the inspiration for this collection.
