Description

Our boro patchwork scarves are made with leftover fabrics from our past productions. Every piece features heritage katazome, a centuries old resist-dyeing method using intricate hand cut paper stencils and a rice-flour paste to print detailed patterns onto cloth, alongside kasuri, the Japanese equivalent of ikat, where warp and weft threads are individually resist-dyed before weaving on a loom to create soft, textured patterns.

At Kiriko, we believe in the values of Mottainai, which means that the old can be made new and everything can be used again. We never throw away our fabrics. Instead, we try to find new and innovative ways to use them.

Each scarf is sewn, pressed, and packaged in Portland, Oregon.
