Sakiori, meaning "to tear and weave" is a traditional Japanese method of textile recycling. Old fabrics deemed unusable were cut into strips and woven together to create new fabric. Sakiori weaving was originally used to create sturdy, long-lasting work clothes, but can now be appreciated for the art form it is. These sakiori coasters are a beautiful way to add a touch of elegance to your table while appreciating traditional Japanese weaving techniques.
