Tsugaru Kogin Zashi is an introduction book to a traditional Japanese stitchwork technique called 'Kogin Zashi'. It's a technique that has developed by the farmers of the Tsugaru district in the northern part of Honshu Island, Japan. This technique consists of over forty patterns, and with various combinations, Kogin Zashi can create several hundreds of other patterns. The basic patterns are taken from nature and daily life, such as bamboo, beans, butterflies, cat's eyes, cows, little flowers, fish scales, horse bits, walnuts, stone steps, etc.
