The Kiku (菊) pattern, or chrysanthemum, became the emblem for the Imperial Family during the Nara period, when the flower was first introduced to Japan. It continues to be a highly-regarded pattern today, appearing on official seals and documents. 

Each scarf is sewn, pressed and packaged in Portland, Oregon.
