This candied lemon peel highlights the refreshing and elegant flavor of the remarkable lemons grown in the Setouchi region of Ehime Prefecture. This region, often described as Japan’s Mediterranean or Aegean Sea, is well-known for its mild climate, abundant sunlight, and refreshing ocean breezes, which makes it perfect for growing citrus. The harvested lemon is carefully peeled, candied with beet sugar, and dried completely, using traditional methods. This brings out a superb moderately sweet flavor with the bright tartness of Setouchi Lemons. It’s not sticky at all, and its sugar coating does not crumble off. The peel has a firm texture to bite into, so you can snack on it as-is. This product does not contain any food coloring, artificial fragrance, or preservatives. It's a great treat to hand out when you are having a Japanese dinner party! Our favorite pairing: with pasta and parmesan cheese.
