Finally, after three years underground, we are ready to start anew.
We made many memories in our little space under Compound. Kiriko started without its own storefront, as a small studio in a storage basement. Over the years, we gradually expanded both our team and our space, until we finally were ready to branch out and find a new home.
We've spent the last few months working on a new space close to home, here in Portland's Chinatown. It's needed lots of renovations and has been a lot of hard work, but it's a space to call our own.
Thank you for sticking with us, and making all of this possible.
The space we're in now has undergone a huge transformation from when we first found it. Located in Portland's Chinatown, this building was unoccupied for years due to all the renovations it needed. Still, we saw potential.
We took up the linoleum floors and polished the hardwood underneath. We put up in new drywall, windows, and lighting.
We stained and built custom bookshelves and fabric racks, with the help of some awesome friends and supporters.
And eventually, we packed up and said goodbye to the old studio.
The vibe is very different here than in our basement. High ceilings, bright light, and a lot more visitors walking in. I don't think we'll miss our old space too much.
