Wind, wrap, sling, tie, decorate, lay out. These colorful handkerchiefs are useful and versatile. Made in Japan from lightweight cotton, they are handy to carry with you to use as a towel, napkin, scarf, headband, or accessory in your pocket. 

This is a light blue handkerchief that has a kingyo pattern combined with tachiwaku patterned boarders. Kingyo represent a fish that is said o bring good fortune. 
Tachiwaku is the pattern resembling rising steam. In the Heian period, the pattern required advanced fabric making techniques. Therefore, it was exclusively used on clothes for the upper class. There are various kinds of combinations with other patterns Tachiwaku.
