Description of Japanese Handkerchief, Classic, Tsubaki

Wind, wrap, sling, tie, decorate, lay out. These colorful handkerchiefs are useful and versatile. Made in Japan from lightweight cotton, they are handy to carry with you to use as a towel, napkin, scarf, headband, or accessory in your pocket.

This is a light green handkerchief with red tsubaki pattern. Tsubaki  represents the camellia flower. The pattern became popular in the Edo era, and has different meanings depending on the color. Red flowers symbolize love. As camellia begin blooming in the winter, it is a hopeful sign for the coming spring.
