Yasuda Hamono
Founded in 1957 in Seki, Gifu prefecture, Yasuda Hamono has perfected the art of knife making, from the quality of the blade’s steel, the straightening and sharpening processes, and the finishing of the handle. The knives are made almost entirely by hand, with the intention of bringing every cook the ease and joy of a crisp cut.
Each blade and whetstone is made in Seki, which has a long history of making famous samurai swords. When samurai were banned from carrying swords in the Meiji era, artisans diversified into other crafts. Today, Seki is still known for high quality scissors, cutlery, and knives.
