Ennichi is a store located in Iwate, Japan, where the team curates items that are locally, passionately, and meaningfully crafted in harmony with the land. They hope you can feel both history and nature in their products.
For this clothing line, craftsmen at Kyoya Dyeing Shop carefully handcraft each item using traditional techniques. While preserving tradition and culture, they make tools to "enjoy life" that fits in with modern life.
This shirt in particular is inspired by "mountain shirts", a style of workwear worn in the old days in the Tohoku region when people worked in the field or in the mountain. It is made extra durable by reinforcing areas that get the most wear, such as the elbows and shoulders, with visually impressive stitching.
100% Cotton/linen blend
Hand dyed with wood scraps of the Urushi tree
A note from the creator: "Urushi trees are cut down after the sap used for lacquer coating has been collected, and currently, the wood is not fully utilized. In order to use the blessings of the mountains without waste, we used the wood scraps that are produced when urushi trees are milled."
